St. Charles County, Mo. - Renaissance Faire Volunteer Open House and Sign Ups Set for January 12 The Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire is looking for volunteers for its 2008 season. For those interested in becoming performing costumed players, Open House offers the opportunity for potential volunteers to speak with veteran Renaissance Faire performers, see displays of costumes and props, learn about required classes, rehearsals and costuming, and fill out paperwork.
Volunteers are needed to portray peasants, villagers, merchants and nobility -- French, German and Scottish -- on the streets and stages of our recreated 16th century village. We also need skilled period artisans to demonstrate their crafts, as well as non-costumed behind-the-scenes support help. Volunteer Open House will be Saturday, Jan. 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Nonprofit Development Center, 425 Spencer Road, St. Peters (the building behind Spencer Road Library). Two Second-Chance sign-up opportunities are also offered for those who are not able to make Open House: Wednesday, Jan. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. also at the Nonprofit Development Center; and Saturday, Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Progress Park Banquet Hall in Wentzville, Mo.
Renaissance Faire volunteers often attend promotional events like the St. Patrick's Day parade and St. Charles Tartan Days. Many continue to volunteer year-round at other Renaissance St. Louis events like the St. Louis Pirate Festival in September. The Tenth Season of the Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire runs from May 17 to June 8, Saturdays and Sundays and Memorial Day, at Wentzville's Rotary Park.
