Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire Open House

Ever wanted to take part in a Renaissance Faire?

Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire Open House Set for January 7

The Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire has scheduled a Volunteer Open House from 12 noon to 4 pm at the College Center of St. Charles Community College, 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive, St. Peters, MO. Not sure if that is the address to the campus or if it is the actual building we are going to be in. We are going to be in the gym as it is the only place big enough for us all.

The Open House will give potential Renaisssance Faire volunteers the chance to see the great variety of volunteer opportunities available -- from non-costumed, behind-the scenes support, service, and construction staff to costumed peasants and villagers, Renaissance merchants, and courtiers and nobility. The Open House will showcase the costuming and accents used at the Faire, as well as Renaissance dancing, improv acting, and swordplay.

Potential volunteers will be instructed in the requirements for participation, including classes, rehearsals, paperwork, and costuming. Some speaking roles for characters involved in the Faire's ongoing scenario will require a separate audition.

In addition, visitors can see slide shows from past Faires, learn about merchant opportunities, and become acquainted with Renaissance St. Louis' many other educational and cultural events in the St. Louis area throughout the year.

The Greater St. Louis Renaissance Faire is held on Saturdays and Sundays and Memorial Day, May 20 through June 11, 2006, at Rotary Park in Wentzville. For more information, check out the Faire website at or call the offices of Renaissance St. Louis at 636-928-4141.
